Aidan has worked as an electrician in the mining industry since 2007, specifically in fixed plant maintenance. He and Lennair established Electrotech to provide a positive future for their young family, and an opportunity for other Indigenous people to undertake training, mentoring and employment.
Aidan did his electrical apprenticeship at Newmont Tanami Operations – one of the world’s largest gold producer. Following this, he was appointed as Maintenance Electrician, and later, Maintenance Senior Electrician with the company, based on his abilities and strong work ethic.
A decision to upskill and specialise in Instrumentation & Control led to Aidan undertaking another apprenticeship. Still at Newmont, he worked as Fixed Plant Maintenance Electrician and was seconded into TEP (Tanami Expansion Project) Commissioning.
He was most recently the Control System Specialist, responsible for the design, configuration, commissioning & maintenance of PLC programs related to mining operations (among other things).
Aidan was motivated to establish ElectroTech to build on his skills and experience.
